What did I come in here for?” This theme seems to resonate with most of us lately. With so much information coming at us from all directions. I like to say our brains are like overstuffed filing cabinets, and it takes longer to pull out the right file. This piece is my way of showing that chaos: figures moving in all directions, just like our thoughts do when we are trying to keep up.

Something's Going On, Acrylic on Canvas, 48” x 36,“

I don't just paint figures. They are figures exuding an emotion. What the emotion is, is for the viewer to realize. My abstracts also are derived from an emotion. I try to translate this to the viewer by using color as well as line, shape, and composition intuitively. When I am painting in my studio, I am unaware of time, of how and exactly when a painting is completely done. It is a constant dialogue with the canvas and an ever-flowing stream of varying feelings.
